Dan Mapes is a digital artist and serial entrepreneur with an MBA in International Business and a strong background in high technology product development for internet and entertainment applications. His projects and clients have included the UN, Apple, Intel, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Electronic Arts and advisory work for the governments of China, Australia and Brazil. He is currently President and Co-founder of MagNet Solutions in Los Angeles. MagNet is a revolutionary social commerce platform that enables artists and brands to deliver music, videos, mobile content, merchandise and more directly to consumers worldwide. His background includes designing image-rich rock tours with Peter Gabriel, creating the first music composing software for the Macintosh, producing The First Summit in Cyberspace for the UN between Nelson Mandela and Shimon Peres using advanced internet videoconferencing technology, designing a nationwide e-learning system for the Saudi Arabian school system and performing on the Tonight Show with his visual music ensemble. He co-developed an advanced laser system for the digital capture of human form and movements and applied those to games as well as film and television. Dan was a Flood Fellow in the PhD program at the University of California at Berkeley focusing on Artificial Intelligence. He received an MBA, magna cum laude from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird). Over the years, he has lived and worked in Europe (England, France, Germany) and Asia (Japan, China) and has studied multiple languages. He currently resides in Los Angeles and has a 230 acre ranch in Santa Barbara that he is developing into a center for advanced ideas in sustainable ecological development.
