CYBERHEROES
CYBERHEROES
Cyberheroes are real people who use digital technologies to help others, including people, animals, and the environment. Their actions are considered heroic if they align with the Articles of the United Nations' Declaration of Human Rights or the Earth Charter. These two documents are widely accepted as defining noble goals that serve the betterment of humanity. Cyberheroes possess the character strengths and virtues commonly associated with heroes and some of the superpowers seen in superheroes. They are often referred to as wearing a "digital cape" because they use digital technologies to achieve their heroic goals. Anyone with a smartphone, tablet, or computer and an internet connection has the potential to be a Cyberhero by using these tools to assist others.
The Cyberhero League was founded by Dr. Dana Klisanin to bring her scientific research on the Cyberhero archetype to people of all ages outside of academic circles. As a psychologist and futurist, Dr. Klisanin became interested in the Cyberhero when she noticed the overwhelming amount of positive acts of kindness, altruism, and heroism online. She realized that just as cyberbullies and cybercriminals existed online, there must also be cyberheroes. Dr. Klisanin identified individuals who used the internet for altruistic purposes and named them Cyberheroes. Her goal for the Cyberhero League is to raise awareness about how digital technologies can be used to make the world a better place. With the help of a dedicated team of designers, educators, artists, and developers, the vision of the Cyberhero League came to fruition.
GLOBAL GOALS
The Cyberhero League supports the United Nations’ call to partner for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). People, organizations, companies, and corporations worldwide are partnering to achieve these goals by the year 2030. Cyberhero League has partnered with many organizations and companies that share this goal. The SDGs are complex: in one way or another, each goal is intertwined with every other goal—they are interdependent. Accomplishing the SDGs will require an enormous amount of collaboration. Because of that, Cyberhero League is determined to develop as many “partnerships for the goals” (Goal 17) as possible. Members of the Cyberhero League, are also partnering for the goals.
OUR EDUCATIONAL APPROACH - CONNECTED LEARNING
Cyberhero League is an educational gaming adventure that enables youth to learn about digital citizenship and tackle global challenges through gameplay. It is designed to advance principles of connected learning, especially in the core learning area of interest learning and the core design area of shared purpose.
The Cyberhero archetype provides young people with a counterbalance to the Cyberbully archetype, encouraging e-civility and providing them with the tools they need to navigate the Internet in a positive and healthy manner.

SUPPORTERS
Cyberhero League exists because a small group of committed individuals were determined to make it a reality and continue to support its ongoing evolution. The seed was planted in 2013 with a successful Indiegogo campaign. Over the years, a dedicated team contributed their time, energy, and expertise to make the dream a reality. We couldn’t have done it without you!
A word of advice to those working to achieve a dream: Coconut trees start to produce fruit five to six years after planting. If you have a dream, don’t give up. What you seek to bring into the world is as valuable as a coconut. Sink your roots into the Earth and let her nourish your dreams.
